It's nice to make your acquaintance, Miss Lydia. As much as one can be made here, at least, I'm not sure how I feel about this whole 'faceless communication' concept.
I apologize for my delay in response, by the way. I'm not used to this sort of
fucking button box bullockdevice.no subject
No worries. Yeah these things aren't terribly personal, I've never bothered with apps like these, personally, in the past.
( It isn't like she ever needed to. )
It isn't your own phone?
no subject
I can honestly say that I've never bothered with anything like this before in the past either.
[ Because why would he? First of all, look at him, second of all, look at him, and third of all, haven't any of you ever heard of a bloody pub or something? Get outside. Drink. Be merry. ]
No, actually. It was given to me and I was given a quick rundown on how to use it, it gets easier with practice. I've never seen anything like it. It's not even a smart phone, it's a bracelet.
[ Thats right. He used the term smart phone. He watched the video, okay? ]
The color is hideous but the way it works is wicked, I have to admit.

A bracelet? How do you even have a screen, then? Is it like a projector or something?
no subject
Ah. Alright, confession time. If I try to use the proper terminology I'm just going to make a fool of myself, none of this is a part of my culture and, for the sake of transparency, nothing even close to it existed from the time that I've come from. So, projector sounds appropriate, but only because I have no idea what in the world that is.
The screen appears on my arm when I turn it on, it's somewhat transparent but it still responds to my touch. That's as far as I've gotten but in my defense, I just arrived.

Projector? You don't know what a projector is? They've been around for ages, though... Like, they...project an image onto an unrelated surface. Like let's say I took a bunch of photographs on a vacation, I could load those images into a projector (the newer ones are easier and less clunky than the old fashioned ones) and then I could point the projector at like a blank wall and my photos would show up there.
( Where the hell is he from that he's never heard of projectors? Even her grandmother had one of those when Lydia was little. )
Oh! Okay, yeah so projecting...motion sensors, sounds like. Huh, I've heard of things like that but I've never actually seen it. That sort of technology is still kind of novel and new where I come from, so translation: too freaking expensive.
no subject
Of course I know what I projector is, I'm just asking to make you explain it to me over text.
No, I don't know what a projector is. Maybe I'm from 'ages' before it was invented? I really don't know, I just know I've never seen one. You know how to make a man feel good about himself, Lydia, has anyone ever told your that?
I can't imagine how much something like this must cost, but I agree. The answer is probably too much, and I don't think I've ever had to say that before.
These things, though, motion sensors and such, you know how it all works?
no subject
I mean it's not completely unaffordable but it's not really affordable for the masses just yet. It'll get there, just like smartphones did.
Uhhh...I kind of have a general idea of how it all works? I'm not really a techie but... Why?
no subject
[ Considering you're the first person he's had any significant interaction with in three solid months, Lydia. Congrats. ]
I may actually be able to explain some of that to you, although it's very possible that you wouldn't believe me. It was
19811982?back home for me which, I know, isn't nearly as old as I'm making it sound. But I mentioned that cultural difference. I think this is part of it.We did have time travel though! Minor and remarkably rare, but it exists. Nothing on this scale.
Because I could use a few pointers and having beautiful company at the same time is too appealing for me not to ask.

Really? Okay that is definitely something I want to hear more about because it's scientifically impossible where I come from and that sounds fascinating!
Ah, gotcha, I would be happy to oblige, in that case.
no subject
No, I'm not Amish. Electronics weren't something that I grew up around though, I wasn't introduced to them until I was around eleven. Fell in love with them, but never learned everything there was to learn. I managed to modify a motorcycle for myself two years ago though, so do mechanics count, at least?
A lot of people believe it to be scientifically impossible where I come from as well. I'll tell you all about it, no sense of keeping secrecy in a place like this after all.
Well, Miss Martin, you have made me into a very happy man.
no subject
Looking forward to it.
Well, Mr. Black, I'm glad to be of service.
no subject
Good. Let me know when you're free and we can organize something, I'm sure you're a very busy woman and I wouldn't want to impose.
no subject
Ah, you're not imposing. Tomorrow sometime?
no subject
That works perfectly. I'll be messaging you tomorrow then to see where you'd like to meet.
no subject
Sounds good! Talk to you then.
